BENEFITS for RANCH OPERATIONS

Animal Safety

Manual chutes provide tactile feedback that automatic headgate cannot match. A manual squeeze is more reliable and consistent, allowing you to secure the animal firmly without the risk of crushing, bruising, or causing panic.

Operator Safety

The "Crash Proof" design ensures levers and handles never kick back at the operator. With adjustable -mounted controls, you stay completely out of the animal's flight zone and kick range while operating the headgate.

Rear Control

Designed for the solo rancher, rear head gate controls allow you to operate the chute without needing a second person at the front.

System Integration

A squeeze chute is only as good as the flow leading up to it. Our equipment connects seamlessly from pen to headgate.

Alley Sliding Gates

Designed so you can operate the gate from outside the alleyway, helping keep you clear of the animal and improving operator safety.

Palpation Cage

(Optional) Adds a 30" safe-zone before the chute for vet access to the rear of the animal.

Squeeze Chute

The final anchor point. The frame accepts standard connector pins for a gap-free setup.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Technical specs and shipping details for your sweep system.

Why choose a manual chute over a hydraulic one?

For most cow-calf and backgrounding operations, a manual chute is superior due to reliability and silence. Manual chutes have no pumps or motors to fail, operate quietly (reducing herd stress), and provide "tactile feedback"—allowing you to feel exactly how much pressure you are applying to the animal.

How does the automatic headgate work?

The automatic headgate uses the animal's own forward momentum. You pre-set the opening width; when the cow attempts to walk through, her shoulders hit the mechanism, triggering the spring-loaded doors to lock instantly around her neck. This allows for true one-man operation from the rear of the chute.

Do I really need a palpation cage?

If you perform pregnancy checks, artificial insemination (AI), or castration, a palpation cage is essential for safety. It adds a 30-inch protected zone between the chute and the alley, allowing the vet or operator to access the rear of the animal without climbing over panels or standing in the crush zone.

What maintenance is required?

Manual chutes require very little maintenance compared to hydraulics. We recommend monthly greasing of the main pivot points and slide tracks, and keeping the bottom track free of built-up mud or frozen manure to ensure the floor adjustment slides smoothly.

What happens if a cow goes down in the chute?

Our chutes feature full Side Exit Panels. If an animal goes down or chokes and cannot back out, you can unlatch and swing open the entire side of the chute, releasing the pressure instantly and allowing the animal to stand up or exit sideways safely.

Can I add a brisket (sternum) bar?

Yes. A brisket bar (or sternum bar) is a removable bar placed at the bottom of the chute. It prevents the cow from kneeling or laying down while being squeezed, which is critical for preventing respiratory issues (choking) during processing.
