Livestock Sweep Systems

We fabricate 90° and 180° sweep tubs designed to utilize natural cattle psychology, ensuring safe, continuous movement into your alley and chute.

Safe, Controlled Handling Equipment

Built to withstand the pressure of crowding while keeping the operator safely out of the impact zone.

CROWDING TUBS

We offer both 90° and 180° crowding tub configurations based on your layout, cattle flow direction, and herd size. Each system is designed to improve movement, reduce stress, and keep handling efficient.

DURABLE ALLEY PANELS

6-foot-tall, 8-rail high-tensile tubing panels help prevent cattle from turning around in the alley, while integrated slide gates reduce backing and improve flow control.

Durable Alley Panels

Sliding alley gates allow you to cut off flow instantly, giving you total control over herd movement.

What Is a Sweep System?

The Pressure Zone

Unlike a square pen, the curved shape utilizes the animal's natural instinct to circle. There are no corners to get trapped in, keeping the herd calm.

The Sweep Gate

A heavy-duty gate pivots from the center point. As you walk the gate forward, it gently reduces the available space, encouraging cattle to move into the exit alley.

Spring Loaded Latch

Our safety latch locks automatically every two feet. This prevents the gate from being kicked back at the operator if the animal pushes against it.

Benefits of a Properly Designed System

Improved Cattle Flow

Eliminate balking at the entry. The curved design encourages natural forward movement, keeping the line moving steadily toward the chute without constant prodding.

Reduced Stress & Injury

By removing "dead corners" and visual distractions, you lower animal stress levels. This directly prevents bruising, broken bones, and damaged equipment.

Labor Efficiency

A well-designed sweep allows a single operator to load the tub and transition cattle into the alley efficiently, reducing your dependence on hired hands.

Common Questions

Technical specs and shipping details for your sweep system.

Should I choose a 90° or 180° sweep tub?

For maximum flow efficiency, the 180° tub is superior. It creates a "false sense of escape" that encourages cattle to enter and circle back naturally. However, if you are retrofitting a barn with tight corners, a 90° system may be the only option that fits your footprint.

Why are your sweep tubs solid sheeted?

Solid sheeting blocks the animal's peripheral vision. This eliminates outside distractions (like dogs, shadows, or operators) and keeps the animal focused on the only available exit: the alley. This significantly reduces balking and stress.

What is the radius of the sweep tub?

Our standard heavy-duty tubs feature a 10' radius (20' diameter). This is the industry "sweet spot"—large enough to handle a group of cows or a mature bull, but tight enough to maintain constant pressure on the herd toward the alley.

Do I need a welder to install this?

No. Our systems are designed to be 100% bolt-together. We fabricate the complex curves and gates in our shop. You or your local contractor simply need to assemble the panels using the provided connection pins and bolt the alley frames together.

Do I need a concrete pad?

While not strictly required, we highly recommend a concrete pad for the sweep tub and alley. It prevents mud buildup in high-traffic areas, ensures the sweep gate rolls smoothly, and provides a level surface for anchoring the system securely.

Are the systems reversible?

Most of our modular components are reversible, but the sweep tub itself must be ordered as either Left-Hand or Right-Hand operation based on your flow. We will help you determine the correct orientation during the design phase.

Will this connect to my existing squeeze chute?

Yes. Our adjustable alley frames and slide gates are designed with universal mounting points. We can also fabricate custom adapter plates to mate our alley system to any brand of manual or hydraulic squeeze chute.

What prevents the gate from kicking back?

Our heavy-duty sweep gates feature a spring-loaded ratchet latch. This mechanism automatically locks the gate in place every few inches as you push it forward, preventing cattle from pushing the gate back into the operator.

How is the system delivered?

We palletize and freight ship the system directly to your farm. You will need a tractor with forks or a skid steer to unload the pallets. We deliver to Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.

What is the current lead time?

Since we fabricate to spec, lead times vary based on shop volume. Custom orders typically ship within 3–5 weeks. Please call our project desk at 606-706-3515 for the most up-to-date production schedule.
